Bio: Michael R. Prendergast

Michael R. Prendergast has nearly 60 years’ experience as a musician and liturgist at the parish, cathedral, and diocesan levels. He is the former Liturgy Specialist and editor of Today’s Liturgy at Oregon Catholic Press. A native of the diocese of Helena, Montana, Michael is the senior adjunct instructor in the Departments of Theology and Religious Studies and Adjunct professor of Sacred Music  at the University of Portland. In August of 2021 Michael retired as the coordinator of liturgy and music at St. Andrew Parish in Portland, OR., a position he held for nearly 15 years. In his semi-retirement Michael still serves as an accompanist, director and cantor at St. Andrew and St. André Bessette in Portland.

 

For over 50 years Michael has served as a clinician at parish, diocesan and national gatherings on a wide array of liturgical subjects. Michael has written on topics related to music and liturgy in several liturgical and pastoral journals including Pastoral Music, Today’s Liturgy, Pastoral Liturgy, Liguorian, and Deacon Digest. He is one of the compilers of Pronunciation Guide for the Lectionary: A Comprehensive Resource for Proclaimers of the Word, Second Edition; and Guide of Liturgy Committees, Second Edition, both published by (LTP) Liturgy Training Publications of Chicago. He holds a master’s in theological studies from Mount Angel Seminary, St. Benedict, Oregon, and a master's in liturgical studies from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. 

Bio: Dr. Anne C. McGuire

 

Dr. Anne McGuire has been involved pastorally and academically in liturgy and music for decades. She has experience in the liturgical life of parish and campus ministry settings as both liturgist and music director. In addition to serving on diocesan liturgical commissions and helping write policies, Anne was also Director of Programs and Pilgrimages at the Shrine of the Holy Relics in Maria Stein, Ohio. Academically, Dr. McGuire taught at Loras College in Duguque, Iowa, and at St. Gregory’s College in Shawnee, Oklahoma. During her time doing parish ministry, she has continued to teach as an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton (Ohio) and at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE.  Recently retired from full-time ministry, Anne continues to be involved in parish liturgical ministries and adjunct teaching, as well as in national liturgical organizations.

 

Anne is passionate about liturgy, a faith rooted in the paschal mystery, and the universal call to holiness and saintliness. Her own journey of aith contributes to her enthusiastic involvement with all of the arts. She has contributed articles to several journals, including Liturgical Ministries (Liturgical Press), Pastoral Liturgy (LTP), and authored Keeping the Seasons for Year A, 2016-2017 (LTP). She has presented at parish, diocesan, professional association, and national gatherings on a wide range of liturgical topics. Anne holds a Master’s degree from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN, and a PhD from the University of Notre Dame.
